Day 3: A song that reminds you of summertime
This song SCREAMS summer to me for a couple of different reasons.
1.) The acoustic guitar and friends singing along together gives me the impression that this was a song meant to be sung around a campfire. Being a Colorado girl, there’s nothing I love more than a chill campfire in the middle of the woods. The lyricism also backs this theory up: the narrator left their wallet, their phone, and their keys in the car, meaning that they left those distractions and were enjoying the company of their friends.
2.) My best friend Ily was the one who got me hooked on this song. They were going to Warped Tour in 2015, so naturally we checked out some bands. Before going to Warped, we went camping with our dads at Gunnison National Park and the road trip there was about four hours long. Ily’s radio was broken, so we listened to songs on Spotify — until we hit patches of spotty service and had to suffice with silence. Not to worry, though, because we found a way to pass the time — singing this song. This song always gives me a slaphappy rush, and whenever I hear this song I remember the exact moment that we were singing to each other, wind blowing in the chilly night hair as we drove half an hour from our campsite just to get some Sonic mozzarella sticks (true story, bro).
So, yeah, there you have it. The ultimate summer jam for me.
